Day 1: Arrive at Kigali & transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Day 1 of your combined Uganda & Rwanda safari will involve you taking a flight. Land at Kigali Airport and be picked up by your Rwanda tour guide. Transfer to Ruhengeri to check in at the lodge in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Iby’Iwacu cultural village for cultural experience
Wake up early and enjoy a leisurely cup of Rwandan tea or coffee. After, briefing on gorilla trekking rules will be at Kinigi, Parc National des Volcans. Allocation of gorilla family will be during the briefing time. Trekkers will later be escorted by park guide and ensure you go with some snacks plus water.
A gorilla trek may take you 2 or 6 hours meaning, you should be physically well to hike. An hour is a maximum time allowed for you to spend with gorillas and after, you return to the lodge.
After relaxation, have an evening in Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. This is where you will get to interact with locals, learn in depth about their traditions, practices, cultures among others.

Day 3: Golden monkey trek or Dian Fossey gravesite hike
Rise up to have enjoyable leisurely breakfast. After, head to Kinigi to be briefed on golden monkey tracking rules. At 8:00am once allocated to a park guide, go track golden monkeys for 2-4 hours and this is inclusive of an hour with golden monkeys in the wild. There is also an option of engaging in Dian Fossey gravesite trek if you don’t want to go trek golden monkeys.

Day 4: Volcanoes National Park Ruhengeri-Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, meet your experienced driver guide ready to go border crossing to Uganda. On 3-4 hours’ trip, drive via Katuna or Chanika border to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Southwestern Uganda.

Day 5: 2nd gorilla trekking
After breakfast, be part of briefing on gorilla trekking regulations at Bwindi park head offices. The actual trek in Bwindi begins at 8:00am with park guide onlead. Of the 20 habituated gorilla groups in Bwindi, you will be allocated to trek only one today. After an hour with gorillas, walk back to a lodge in Bwindi and later, visit the Batwa community.

Day 6: Travel back to Kigali from Bwindi
Have a leisurely cup of Ugandan tea or coffee and after, return to Kigali via Katuna or Chanika border. Take part in Kigali city expedition that lets you visit Kigali genocide site, local markets among other significant sites. Depart from Kigali Airport or drop off at a hotel or place of residence in Kigali.
