6  Days Congo Gorilla Trekking – Nyiragongo Hike.

Day 1: Transfer from Goma International Airport.

Upon arrival at Goma international airport, you will be welcomed by the tour guide of primate Safari Experiences and start on the transfer from Goma to Virunga National Park Safari lodges. Depending on the client’s interest in lodges, dinner and overnight at either Mikeno Lodge, Bukima Tented Camp, Kibumba Tented Camp.

2. Bukima Tented Camp:  This is the mid-range accommodation that is located in the jungles of Virunga National Park and its the best for clients who are going to trek the mountain gorillas.  Its located at the park headquarter where gorilla trekking is done and briefing are done at that point of Virunga and most of the gorilla trekking starts from Bukima Station.
3. Kibumba Tented Camp:  This is the best budget accommodation in Virunga located near the starting point for Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo Hike, its the best option for group travelers while on Congo gorilla trekking or Nyiragongo hike.

Day 2: Memorable Mountain Gorilla Trekking

As the earlier dream is coming to reality today and that is gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park Congo, After warm breakfast at your accommodation, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations after which you will enter into the jungle forest to search for the endangered mountain gorillas which are the best primate to be seen in the Virunga massif.  During the gorilla trekking activity, you will have one hour watching the primates seeing them playing with their young ones and feeding in the wilderness of African tropical forests.  Dinner and overnight at either of the above accommodations.

Day 3: Climb Nyiragongo Volcano.

After Early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will be transferred from the lodge to kibati station which is the briefing ground for all Nyiragongo hiking tours in Congo. The Number of travelers allowed to trek Nyiragongo is 24 pax, this means that even if its group safari to Congo booked through Primate Safaris, the number for the trek should be not more than 24 pax or the company will divide you into 2 groups for the trekking activity. Primate Safaris has the expertise in handling a group of travelers up to 46 pax for congo Safaris.

Nyiragongo Volcano trek starts at 9:00 am and the hike has 6 stoping points in the Virunga exploring the change in the vegetation cover plus the magic lava for the past eruptions in the mountain.

Start the walk through an impressive rain forest, the climb continues on the lava eruption fissure, reach the summit. Have the whole evening to enjoy the view from the crater and watch the lava inside. Dinner and Overnight in the shelter at the crater.

Lunch will be provided in the Mikeno package that is served on the Nyiragongo package. Dinner and overnight in the Nyiragongo cabin shelters.

Day 4: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano.

The Breakfast on Nyiragongo Volcano is always served between 5;30am to 6;10 am and starts to descend down the hill, the sloping of the volcano is a bit not challenging compared to the hike to the volcano in Previous day. When you reach the base, you will be welcomed again by your guide and transfer to Lake Kivu lodge for lunch and later proceed to take the speed boat to Bukavu.

Bukavu is the second-largest tourists city in eastern Congo and it is more organized and arranged compared to Goma. Dinner and overnight are at Orchids, Hotel Begonias , Exodus.

Day 5: Lowland Gorilla Habituation Experience.

Early morning Transfer to Kahuzi- Biega National Park. After park ranger briefing, trek to see lowland gorillas. Transfer back to your hotel after trekking the Eastern Lowland Gorillas.

 

Day 6 : Check out of hotel and transfer to Kigali or Take boat back to Goma. This will depend on the interest of the Traveler that is taking this 6 Days Congo Mountain & Lowland Gorilla Safari.
