Western Lowland Gorillas are a subspecies of Lowlands Gorillas. These animals reside in the lush habitats of Gabon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic and Cameroon.
They are distinguished from Eastern Lowland by color. Western Lowland Gorillas have redder and greyer fur than the Eastern Lowland Gorillas.
Because of threats from habitat loss, human encroachment, hunting and attacking diseases, these apes were listed among the critically endangered species.
